Three Quarters is a documentary based in part on the recently published novel Must I Remember based on the Rostami family’s epic journey. The documentary seeks to show the Rostami family in their rebirth stage with periodic flashbacks to a painful past they must force themselves to remember.
Looking at the Rostami family today, one could never guess how far they’ve come, but their present lives are as far from their past as the East is from the West. They have lived through a Taliban home invasion, a thwarted escape from Afghanistan, the subsequent execution of the family patriarch followed by the kidnapping, forcible confinement and eventual abandonment of their son. All this set the stage for the Rostami family’s eight year survival trek across Central Asia. Today in Canada, as they prepare to tell their story to the Canadian public, their story turns from devastating despair to hope.
Three Quarters will document the adaptation of the Rostami family in Canada, how the family is unified once again, and how they are reaching out to the Canadian public.
