Body Shop is about a rag-picker and social outcast named Gaston, who searches for bottles,
cans and scraps of metal to sculpt into a running narrative of his life.
One day, when he is out looking for bottles and cans, he chances upon an accident scene.
He finds a car with a dead driver at the wheel. Gaston suffers from chronic arrested development
and cannot compute the data he confronts in daily life. “Death” does not compute; “dead bodies”
even less so. To Gaston, the man is simply asleep at the wheel. He decides to rescue the dead
man from an uncomfortable “sleep” and takes him back to his apartment situated above an abandoned
car body shop. Here we are witness to the bizarre relationship between the two, and the tragic
consequences that unfold.
"The History of the Peace Train"
This documentary examines the history of the Peace Train movement to see how truly effective and instrumental
it is in negotiating meaningful and positive change in today’s era of conflict. The reason the Peace Train gathers such
steam and has such a powerful locomotive behind it rests with its tactfulness and unthreatening demeanor. It represents
no threat whatsoever to the government or established order. Consequently, the governments of our world have no legitimate
cause to feel threatened by so innocuous a movement. In fact, any such act by governments anywhere in the world would
immediately expose them as despotic and justify less subtle means of persuasion by the people. Prof. Jeremy Seligson
narrates the film, traveling to Peace Train destinations all over the world to interview World Dreams Peace Bridge organizers
May Tung, Jean Campbell, and Ada Aharoni. He holds interviews with Colman McCarthy and Senator Richard Lugar. He interviews
the creator of the Peace Palace in Rajasthan, India, the Jain Acharya Mahapragya and the organizer of ANUVRAT Global Peace
Organization.
Our host takes us through history, where archived footage and photos conjure up the magic of bygone eras, where Peace
Trains of various kinds are instrumental in salvaging the lives of those who otherwise might have been lost to the scourges
of history.
